The December 1984 general
election saw the birth of Tampines Changkat Constituency.
The newly elected MP, Dr Aline Wong became the advisor
to the Tampines Changkat Community Centre which inherited
the former Tampines Changkat Community Centre then functioning
in a shop house. She set about appointing grassroots
leaders to serve in the CCMC. The role of the CCMC was to serve the residents in Tampines Changkat through the community centre.
Ms Irene Ng became the next advisor to the Tampines Changkat CCMC after the November 2001 general election. Together with grassroots leaders, the CCMC continues to serve Tampines Changkat residents. In 2002, the community centre underwent renovations. A 100 seats auditorium and a lift were added among other things.
In November 2004, Tampines Changkat Community Centre was renamed as Tampines Changkat Community Club. This was to coincide with the launch of the People's Association (PA) PAssion Card.
Members of the Tampines Changkat Community Club are entitled to the PAssion Card. With the PAssion Card, members can get cash discounts and earn or redeem LinkPoints for joining courses and activities or for booking of facilities at participating Community Centres/Clubs. Members can also enjoy discounts at PAssion Card merchants simply by showing their PAssion Card. And members can earn and redeem LinkPoints at any of the 600 Link-related outlets.
